Public school students of Williamson County are served by Williamson County Schools and Franklin Special School District. Franklin Special School District is a small preK – 8 district of eight schools and about 3,700 students. All schools and the Central Office are accredited by the AdvancED, and the district is one of only eight schools statewide that score in the top 10 for all subjects on TN Ready testing.

Williamson County Schools serves over 41,000 students across 48 schools: 10 high schools, 10 middle schools, 27 elementary schools, and one K – 8 school. This large and well-resourced district ranks first in Tennessee districts with more than one high school, and is ranked #1 in the Nashville area and #8 in Tennessee by Niche.com.
